IBC 320 – the new, innovative connector for the future of battery charging

Anderson  Power's NEW IBC 320 is an innovative industrial battery connector with a modular cartridge system that allows for easy installation, quick repairs and minimal downtime. It is particularly resistant to water and dirt (IP68) and offers maximum safety and efficiency during charging thanks to contact-based temperature sensors and up to 10 signal lines. Ideal for demanding industrial environments - available in standard or panel-mount versions.

Application:
Designed to meet the growing demand for high-performance battery connectors, the Industrial Battery Connector (IBC) utilizes a modular cartridge design that is offered in a variety of configurations and with a variety of performance-enhancing accessories. This enables industry-leading battery monitoring capabilities, faster charging, reduced downtime and a market-exclusive IP68 rating, supporting the increasing demands of electrified devices.

Quick-install battery connectors with modular cartridge

The Industrial Battery Connector features a patent-pending modular design with color-coded, replaceable contact cassettes that allow for fast, tool-free assembly, maintenance, and repair. Patented terminals relieve the load on power cables and, for the first time, signal cables, extend their service life and ensure consistent performance.

Next-generation battery connection accessories for durability and performance

Accessory options:

  • IP68 Kit:  The IBC is the first DIN high-performance battery connector on the market to feature an IP68 weatherproof accessory. The patent-pending kit is designed for harsh environments and seals the IBC against moisture and dirt when plugged in for unmatched durability in the field. The IP68 accessory is available for the four-, six-, and ten-signal IBC configurations.
  • Contact Temperature Measurement Activation: Another first for a high-capacity battery connection, the IBC's patent-pending contact temperature measurement accessory helps prevent contacts from overheating during power transmission and improves safety, reliability, and performance.
  • Locking Handle: The spring-loaded locking handle ensures a secure mechanical connection and prevents accidental disconnection of the plug and socket. These accessories are available for all series and configurations.

IBC enclosure options: plug, receptacle and panel mount configurations

The industrial battery connector is ideal for charging high-power electrical applications. The connector is available in plug, receptacle and panel mount configurations for versatile installation options.

Panel mounting is an exclusive offering from Anderson Power and offers a compact mounting solution for confined spaces. Panel mounting is offered for all series, while busbar contact is only available for panel mounting diaries. Panel mounting can be combined with the IP68 gasket kit for the ultimate outdoor connection solution.

The connector is designed to meet stringent industry standards for reliable performance (including DIN VDE 0623-589, RoHS, UL1977, CSA 22.2, IEC 60529, and EN1175:2020) and supports:

  • Durability for at least 5,000 mating cycles
  • Flammability class UL94 V0
  • Operating temperature range from 20 °C to 105 °C
  • Hot-plug capability (200 to 800 A at 96 V per EN1175-1)
  • Touch protection (IP20 according to IEC 60529)
  • Weather protection class IP68 (with IP68 kit)

IBC series forklift loading solution sizes and configurations

The industrial battery connector is available in three sizes/series: 80, 160 and 320 series. Depending on the size chosen, the connector is rated for 70 to 450 A and offers configurations with up to ten additional signals. The different models and their associated configurations include:

  • Series 80 (70-200 A): Available with four auxiliary signals.
  • 160 Series (80-270 A): Available in configurations that support four auxiliary signals, two auxiliary signals with air hoses, or up to six auxiliary signals.
  • 320 Series (165-450 A): Available in configurations that support four auxiliary signals, two auxiliary signals with air hoses, or up to ten auxiliary signals.

"We designed the industrial battery connector with flexibility in mind, so manufacturers and engineers can choose the configuration that best suits their specific equipment needs," said Joe Ferris, Market Segment Manager at Anderson Power. "With support for up to ten signals, temperature measurement and IP68 rating, the IBC provides users with powerful battery monitoring capabilities that monitor battery health, enable faster charging and extend overall battery life indoors and outdoors."
